Can God Really Love You "Unconditionally"?

Do you have a hard time accepting that God is a loving God? . . .

Do you say to yourself, "God knows me inside out. He knows I'm not loving. He knows I don't care about others like I should. He knows I don't like certain people, and I won't be a hypocrite -- which means I won't be nice to them, since I don't even like them. God probably doesn't even like me when I'm like that -- and I'm like that a lot."

Does that, or something like that, go through your mind from time to time? One reason I think that happens is that if we think of God as a person, no matter how loving that person is, we still put our thoughts, our lacks, into that person. Into God. Sometimes, when we feel that we aren't really lovable, we wonder how he can *always* love us.

No matter how hard we try, there are times when we have a hard time projecting unconditional love into the persona we call God. If we aren't a loving person, if we've never experienced unconditional love, how can we accept, or even understand, God as an ALL loving God?

Some people don't feel worthy of love, so how can God love them, they ask. They think they're too ornery, too mean, too ugly, too fat, too stupid, or too whatever. And that's where their mind goes when they think of God. They don't expect him to love them when they are bad.

We all need to understand that God is not a person, God is love. He is not hatred, He is not revenge, He is not controlling, He is not vindictive. He simply is and radiates Love. Just as the Angels do.

How can we picture him, if not in human form? How can we picture God as Love?

Why not think of God as a beautiful white cloud? A beautiful white cloud full of love. You have never, nor will you ever see it as anything other than love, so there's no conflict.

Now, when you need love, all you need to do is sit down and relax. Close your eyelids and let your eyes drift upward. Talk to God, and as you do, feel the God Cloud of Love hover over your head. Now, feel it slowly coming down encompassing your whole body. Feel all your doubts dissolve and slide right out of your mind. Feel your heart full of God's love and forgiveness. When you are totally at peace, you will hear the Angels sing.

Feel how good that feels. Do this every morning before you start your day, feel the love grow. Realize that at the end of the day, you are still smiling, still feeling God's love in your heart.

Yes. God can, and really does, love us *unconditionally*. Feel that unconditional love surround you every day.
